'Ebubeagu' Is Non-Existent In Oba- Regent Ezenwa

By Ejike Abana

The Regent of Oba in Idemili South Local Government area of Anambra State, Prince Noel Ezenwa says contrary to reports making the rounds in the social media space, there is no Ebubeagu in existence in Oba.

Prince Ezenwa stated this as a clarification to the misunderstanding between some members of Anambra Vigilante Group and some youths of the Community.
Addressing journalists in Oba, the Regent described as misleading the report that there is presence of Ebubeagu in his Community.

He maintained that all the vehicles that came into the palace on the day of the altercation were clearly marked, 'AVG', saying that things would have turned differently and gave accolades to the leader and members of the AVG for conducting themselves professionally.

The Oba leader explained that what happened was that there was an attempt to identify a personnel in the community who turned out to be a leader of Oba youths but a gap in communication led to the misunderstanding, noting that peace and normalcy has since returned between members of AVG and Oba Youths.

Prince Ezenwa who stressed that no life was lost during the misunderstanding, also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for working to entrench security which gave rise to their ability to resolve the issues that came up and pledged continued  support to the Governor's security initiatives and lofty ideas.
While stating the need for  government to show more presence in communities, Regent Ezenwa revealed that since the advent of Governor Soludo's administration, the security situation keeps improving, expressing optimism that if given more time, the Governor will perform much better.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne explained that plans are underway by the Soludo-led administration to unveil AVG at the Community levels, explaining that they have been going through the Traditional rulers ab initio.

While stressing that the Soludo government is already at the grassroots, the Commissioner noted that some Communities tend to have their own security architecture without recourse to government policies, saying that being a gradual process, Ndi Anambra should be patient with the Governor because he is taking everything back to the grassroots.

Recall that a few days, the social media was awash with stories of angry youths of Oba chanting 'we don't want Ebubeagu', hence stopping the security outfit from effecting an arrest.

Anambra State Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, has since clarified the situation as being a misunderstanding between vigilante operatives and Oba youth who felt that the vigilante men attacked their chairman.
